FOUNDER SUSAN KONIAK SPEAKS AT UNITED WAY S.T.A.R.S. CONFERENCE, FLORIDA, MAY 2007.

The United Way of West Palm Beach County, Florida, has invited Susan to speak at its S.T.A.R.S. Conference on May 5, 2007. “S.T.A.R.S.” stands for Start Transition and Realize Success.

The Conference is for public school students with disabilities, their families and support providers. Conference organizers hope to provide information and workshops that will help guide students with disabilities through a successful transition from high school to adulthood. Attendance is expected to be about 400.

Susan will address the entire group, speaking about modes of compensating for learning disabilities, learning to live in a world constructed by and for “others,” and the exciting research project Sarah’s Place has planned to develop more effective interventions for the learning disabled and to learn more about what is different about the brains of people who have visual/spatial processing difficulties. She will then conduct a break-out session for parents and students.
